COVID Relief Fundraiser for Prisoners

Prisons put people at high risk of COVID-19 infection. As the number of confirmed cases climbs, the state drags its feet on the only effective and healthy response—letting people out. The governor’s recent executive order targets county jails, ignoring the already dangerous and now lethal conditions in state prisons. We’re hearing from contacts inside that many facilities are failing to provide effective sanitation supplies, overcrowded housing units are simply being locked down without effective quarantining measures, and information about the pandemic is being heavily censored, leaving prisoners in the dark about a situation threatening their lives.

Our Response

Michigan Abolition and Prisoner Solidarity (MAPS) is trying to do 3 things:

1) Get direct material support to comrades who are locked up—CONTRIBUTE ON THIS PAGE!!

2) Circulate direct accounts from prisoners in Michigan

3) Join the call to empty state prisons in response to public health crisis

All funds raised here will go directly to comrades locked up in Michigan. In a time of severe restriction, money increases choice. Cleaning supplies, communication with friends and family, healthcare visits, and food all cost money to prisoners. At this time, many who work are losing their jobs, phone access is being limited, and healthcare is desperately scarce. Please give what you can.
